I recently was invited to check out the locally-based Bronx Diba Shoe Outlet by fellow blogger Carmen of The Ruby Zipper. Not only the sweetest lady on the planet, I feel like she and I have a similar style sense - as in, we kinda just wear whatever we want and don't really pay too much attention to "rules" or fads. So when she asked if I'd like to visit the outlet, I said heck yes! The shop has a massive sale in July to help clear its inventory. Many women's styles qualify for a whopping 5 for $100. I spent a little too long browsing the selection, pouring over all the options. I have been focusing on adding more wearable yet fab shoes to my closet, and these amazing leather chukkas jumped right out at me.
My friend and talented photographer Justin Barr met me for lunch on Saturday at Sasha's on Shaw, which happens to be right in my neighborhood. I don't frequent the establishment nearly as often as I should, because I love wine (duh), crepes (of course), and cool atmospheres (patios please!). Tower Grove has plenty of picture-perfect and funky backdrops, especially the fun road blockade and urban garden-jungle you see above.
You won't be surprised to hear that approximately 90% of this outfit is thrifted/secondhand. In fact, the only things "new" that have come into my possession are the chukkas and this stag bolo tie. These kinda of outfits - the ones that are pieced together from various decades and backgrounds - are the ones that I feel most comfortable in. Do you have that same feeling about certain outfits?
